Mr. Bertrand Lafond is a Canadian Forces Veteran who served in the RCAF from 1954 to 1978. He became an active member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada in 1990. He has served in many capacities within his unit and Provincial Command. Mr. Lafond has served as unit president for three terms, 1st vice president of Saskatchewan Command, service officer for Southern Saskatchewan, and has served as Provincial Command president. As provincial president, Mr. Lafond represented his association in France for the 90th anniversary of the Battles of the Somme and Beaumont-Hamel in 2006. In his capacity as president, he has also had the pleasure of representing Saskatchewan Veterans at Citizenship Court for the last two years. Mr. Lafond has been a member of the Veterans Affairs Canada Advisory Council for the past eight years and enjoys this relationship with employees of the Department. Mr. Lafond is also a musician who plays fiddle in a band. He continues to entertain Veterans at unit dances and in retirement homes.
