Betty MacLachlan

Stratford, Prince Edward Island

Mrs. MacLachlan is a longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion. In 1991, she became Executive Director of the Prince Edward Island Provincial Command. Since then, she has been devoted to keeping the Provincial Command running smoothly and she has been effective in maintaining a close liaison between the branches and Dominion Command. She also coordinates the annual Poppy Campaign at the Provincial level. In 2005, the Year of the Veteran, Mrs. MacLachlan was responsible for coordinating the production and publication of a special PEI Veterans Booklet. Her dedication was especially evident in the countless hours spent on collecting information and gathering photographs from Veterans, families, Legion branches, and members of the public. She also worked with the publishing house to ensure the timely distribution of the booklet. The publication was such a success that a fourth edition is being produced.
