Mr. Haldane is a long-time member of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Branch #172 and has served in many capacities of the executive. Mr. Haldane organized the 2008 God's Acre Candlelight Ceremony. This event has previously been led by Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) and in 2008, Branch #172 took over as the lead. With the assistance of a VAC employee, Mr. Haldane ensured the transition of responsibility ran smoothly and with his dedication, the event was a huge success. Mr. Haldane also volunteers his time daily with the Petty Officers Mess Association. He visits housebound Veterans, assists them with transportation and provides friendly conversation.
