Bobbi McCoy

Red Deer, Alberta

For many years, Mrs. McCoy has been instrumental in organizing numerous commemorative projects. Prior to moving to Alberta in 2003, Mrs. McCoy was a dedicated volunteer on the Commemorative Candlelight Tribute Committee in British Columbia for the inaugural ceremonies held in 1997 at the Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver and the North Vancouver Cemetery. After moving to Alberta, Mrs. McCoy began organizing a similar candlelight ceremony in Red Deer, and by 2006, this event was successfully in place. Mrs. McCoy also presented a successful proposal to Red Deer City Council to adopt a program which offers free parking for Veterans. She spearheaded a fundraising initiative to form a non-profit charity “Riders & Cruisers for Homeless & at Risk Veterans,” which has since raised thousands of dollars. In her position as First Vice-President for the Alberta & Northwest Territories Command of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL), Mrs. McCoy works tirelessly to ensure Veterans’ requests for assistance are fulfilled. She also continues to manage her local branch website and Facebook pages.
