Brian Batter

West Kelowna, British Columbia

Mr. Batter is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran who served nearly 45 years. He actively promoted the contributions of Canada's Veterans by volunteering with the Winnipeg Joint Veterans Committee. Mr. Batter was involved with organizing several events commemorating the 50th and 60th Anniversaries, including D-Day, VE and VJ Day ceremonies. It was Mr. Batter's initiative to have the Premier of Manitoba grant all Veterans Freedom of the Province in 2005. He was influential in the concept and design of the Valour Road Commemorative Park, which was dedicated in 2005. Mr. Batter is a member of the Regimental Senate of The Royal Winnipeg Rifles, and a past member of the Senate of 17 (Winnipeg), 18 (Thunder Bay) Service Battalions, and is past Secretary of the Royal Military Institute of Manitoba. In 2002, Mr. Batter became the editor of the Devils' Blast – the annual chronicle of The Royal Winnipeg Rifles. Mr. Batter has been appointed Life Member of The Royal Winnipeg Rifles Association.
