Mr. Ferguson served with the Merchant Navy during the Second World War. He has been a member of the Canadian Merchant Navy Veterans Association since its inception. He was the Association's Vancouver Island Chairman for four years and the Island's National Director for three years before serving as the National Executive Vice President for two years. Mr. Ferguson is currently serving in his fourth term in office as National President. In addition to his executive positions, Mr. Ferguson has been the Editor and Publisher of the Association's newsletter, "Red Duster." Mr. Ferguson has represented the Merchant Navy on five commemorative overseas events in Europe. He has also served on several Veterans' advisory committees, including the Veterans Wall of Honour in Victoria. Mr. Ferguson's devotion to the commemoration of Merchant Navy Veterans is well-known, not only in British Columbia, but across the country.
