C. James Margerum

Gloucester, Ontario

Mr. Margerum has many years of service with the Ontario Provincial Command of The Royal Canadian Legion and the Ontario Provincial Command. He has been dedicated to promoting the welfare and well-being of Veterans, including that of current serving members of the Canadian Forces. Mr. Margerum's focus has been on Veterans in long-term care and he has been instrumental in raising the standards offered to hospitalized Veterans in Ontario. In recognition of his expertise in the field, Mr. Margerum was appointed National Coordinator of Long-Term Care by the Legion's Dominion Command. He has been instrumental in drawing the government's attention on key issues such as National Standards of Care, the need for a Director of Quality Care position in Ontario and the need to enshrine the rights of Veterans into Provincial Health Legislation. Mr. Margerum always finds time to involve himself in the daily needs of Veterans and has devoted many hours to meeting with Veterans families, visiting Veterans in hospital, analysing agreements and legislation and promoting support within the Legion to provide comfort to hospitalized Veterans.
