Mr. Crane is an active advocate for Veterans and the Veteran community. He is a very active member of Canadian Legion Branch (RCL) Branch #9. He has held various executive positions and is a member of several committees. Mr. Crane is also a past president of the RCL’s Newfoundland & Labrador Command. In 2004, he became Chair of the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion, Legion Action Committee. Since that time, Mr. Crane worked on a project to add a new specialized wing to the Pavilion which would focus care on Veterans with dementia-type illnesses. He was also involved in the wing’s grand opening, in 2009. Mr. Crane’s current project at the Pavilion is the creation of a garden where dementia patients can enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment reflective of their needs. Mr. Crane also facilitates and arranges for annual visits by senior government officials and he represents the RCL at the Pavilion’s annual Remembrance Day services.
