Captain Hunter, a member of the Canadian Forces, is known for the numerous contributions he has made to his community, Veterans' organizations and Veterans. He has devoted many years of his adult life to preserving the memory of the achievements and sacrifices of Veterans by leading several projects in his community. Captain Hunter established two Second World War re-enactment groups for which he researched and purchased Second World War uniforms and equipment at his own expense. He has organized public displays, parades and living history events for the public. Through these projects, he encourages Canadians to be aware of the achievements of Canadians during the Second World War. Captain Hunter has promoted Veterans' Week on Breakfast Television. He has also developed several displays on significant military anniversaries. On Remembrance Day, before he attends memorial services, Captain Hunter visits Veterans in retirement homes for sing-a-longs. He also helps to maintain the graves of British airmen buried at the Sherwood Cemetery. These airmen were killed while training in the Charlottetown area during the Second World War. Captain Hunter is very active in the Royal Canadian Air Force Association and The Royal Canadian Legion.
