Mr. Shaw is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran who served as a Transportation Officer for 32 years. He is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion and has held most Branch and Provincial Command positions. Mr. Shaw has been a Branch Service Officer for more than 25 years, and in that capacity visits older Veterans in the Grand Falls Domiciliary Care Unit, transports sick or disabled Veterans to doctor and hospital appointments, and assists Veterans in filling out file claims and forms. When Veterans pass on, Mr. Shaw ensures that there is a dignified Legion Tribute at the funeral home or graveside. He initiated a program which presents a folded Canadian flag to the family on behalf of a grateful country. Mr. Shaw is well known in his community for his care and compassion for Veterans.
