Mrs. Christina Gregoire is a Veteran of the Second World War and served in Intelligence with the Royal Canadian Air Force. She has been a volunteer for nearly 30 years with the Veterans' residence at the Campbellton Regional Hospital - formerly known as the Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Gregoire was contacted by the hospital in 1978 when they became concerned about the social needs of the Veterans. As a result, the "Sillarsville Group" was formed with Mrs. Gregoire as coordinator, to provide entertainment and special meals to these Veterans. Mrs. Gregoire also organizes a Christmas concert for the Veterans which involves considerable time and effort. Over the years, she has been successful in recruiting a variety of local musicians and entertainers. Mrs Gregoire has also been successful in engaging youth, community and church groups, and army and sea cadets to entertain and visit with the Veterans. Mrs. Gregoire stands as an inspiration to fellow citizens in her community.
