A Merchant Navy Veteran of the Second World War and of the Korean War, Mr. Bordeleau's military career also includes service as a Peacekeeper. Mr. Bordeleau has been a strong advocate for Canadian Veterans, especially for those who incurred disabilities during wartime. He was a key figure in the campaign to obtain benefits for Merchant Navy Veterans. Mr. Bordeleau is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion and also works with other Veterans Associations. He has worked closely with representatives of the Republic of Korea and Korean Veterans to commemorate Canada's participation in the Korean War, and to strengthen Canadian-Korean relations through the promotion of active dialogue between the two countries. Mr. Bordeleau has shown great concern for the preservation of military heritage in Canada by making significant representations before the Senate and by working with the Government of the Republic of Korea to establish a commemorative student scholarship.
