CWO George J. Romick OSt.J, CD

Mr. Romick is the Regimental Sergeant-Major of the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment, an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion and a volunteer for the St. John's Ambulance Brigade. He has organized and participated in several commemorative ceremonies and events in the Thunder Bay area for many years. Most notably, Mr. Romick brought First Nations Veterans' groups closer together with non-native Veterans' groups for the planning of Remembrance Day ceremonies and parades in Thunder Bay. Additionally, Mr. Romick assists in the running of a remembrance service for Veterans and residents of two retirement homes in the area. In 2004, Mr. Romick assisted with the dedication ceremony of the Stanley Veterans Cemetery. At the Remembrance Day Service that same year, Mr. Romick laid a wreath on behalf of the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment at the Fort William First Nations Cenotaph. During the Year of the Veteran in 2005 and as a member of Scouts Canada, Mr. Romick ensured that Veterans in his community received a Year of the Veteran crest produced by Scouts Canada. Mr. Romick also assisted with the Native Veterans Medal Association presentation to Lake St. Helen First Nations Veterans and has mounted military medal groups for Veterans at no cost. Mr. Romick is a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal and is an Officer of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem.
