Sergeant Darren Reid, CD, exemplifies outstanding dedication to Veterans through his work with The Royal Canadian Legion and as group administrator for the 31 Canadian Brigade Group Veteran Well-being Network.
For nearly 10 years, he has been a vital member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 333 Flesherton-Markdale, taking on various roles including service officer, poppy chairman, sergeant-at-arms, first vice-president and president. As service officer, he initiated “Operation Santa Claus,” ensuring that the branch’s oldest Veterans in retirement homes receive gifts and a special visit from Santa each year.
In his role with the 31 Canadian Brigade Group Veteran Well-being Network, a Facebook group supporting Veterans in southwest Ontario, he has served as administrator for over seven years, actively engaging with its 1,400 members. He has often driven hours to assist Veterans in crisis.
Through both organizations, Sergeant Reid provides crucial support, including casualty assistance, help for families of fallen Veterans, crisis intervention coordination and aid with benevolent funding and Veterans Affairs Canada claims submissions.
