Mr. Shaw is retired from the Navy. As a member of the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada Association (ANAVETS), he has worked tirelessly for the past 29 years assisting and supporting Veterans. Mr. Shaw is currently President of the Nova Scotia (Provincial Command) of ANAVETS. He continues to work on the Sick and Visiting Committee, has served the Camp Hill Geriatric Trust Fund, and is a member of the Veterans Service Organization. Mr. Shaw is a recipient of the Award of Merit for ANAVETS, the highest award offered by the association, and is a Life Member. Additionally, Mr. Shaw is an active member of the Canadian Naval Air Group Veterans Association. He has served with several local service organizations over the years, including the Lions Club, where he was recently crowned "King Lion" of the Dartmouth Club.
