Mr. Watson pursued his life-long interest in Canadian military history and the promotion of the memory of the sacrifice and contributions of Canada's Veterans, by volunteering at the Canadian Scottish Regimental Museum, where he researched the heraldic history of the regiment which was compiled for the regimental archives. While a part-time employee with Tillicum Lodge in Victoria, BC, he voluntarily undertook a research project which culminated in the publication of "Independent Living to Facility Living-Easing the Transition" in the Canadian Forces Medical Journal Medicus. Using his sound historical knowledge and honed research skills, Mr. Watson routinely compiles, at his own expense, personalized photographic histories of Veterans' service, which are in the form of photographs highlighting significant historical images of Veterans, military trades and equipment and battlefield scenes. Mr. Watson's devotion to matters relating to the interest and welfare of Veterans extends into his personal and daily life, where he interacts on a regular basis with Veterans, assisting them in applying for medals and helping them access benefits to which they are entitled. Mr. Watson has had an outstanding background of voluntary service, both at home and abroad. His outstanding contributions to Canada and its Veterans exemplify the extent of his devotion to their cause.
