Mr. Derrill Henderson has strong family ties to Hong Kong Veterans. His father, four close relatives and his godfather were all members of the "C" Force in Hong Kong. As a young child listening to the stories of Veterans, Mr. Henderson developed an understanding of their needs and concerns. He translated that understanding into decades of devotion to the interests and commemoration of Hong Kong Veterans. He is the principal founder and was the first President of the Hong Kong Veterans Commemorative Association. Mr. Henderson has represented the Hong Kong Veterans Association of Canada on numerous occasions, including the organizing committee for the 50th Anniversary of VJ-Day in Ottawa, at Royal Canadian Legion and National Council of Veteran Associations events, Remembrance Day ceremonies and the dedication of The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier. Most recently, Mr. Henderson was an instrumental force in the successful planning and implementation of the 2005 National Convention of the Hong Kong Veterans Commemorative Association of Canada held in Ottawa. He continues to be a steadfast supporter of all Far East Veterans.
