Mr. Roach is a Second World War Veteran who served in the Merchant Navy. Upon leaving the Merchant Navy, Mr. Roach has been a tireless advocate for Merchant Mariner recognition as well as a tireless volunteer, assisting Veterans with their pension applications and visiting with them in health care facilities. He is currently Director of the League of Merchant Mariner Veterans of Canada. Mr. Roach is always available for help, no matter what the issue or request may be. On behalf of the League of Merchant Mariners of Canada, Mr. Roach was a delegate on two pilgrimages to France. On his second visit, he received the Legion of Honour from the French Government.
