Mrs. Currie is an active member and current president of Unit #2, Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada, in Calgary. She has also held numerous other executive positions in the organization since joining in 1972. Mrs. Currie is active in the Calgary Poppy fund by assisting to raise funds for the betterment of Calgary’s Veterans. She has successfully operated food drives to gather food for the Calgary Veterans Food Bank. Mrs. Currie volunteers as a companion to two Second World War Veterans in the Bow View Nursing Home by taking them to appointments and social functions. She has organized the annual dinner and dance for Veterans and their spouses to recognize their past service, and she also assists the Ladies Auxiliary in planning events for Veterans housed at the Colonel Belcher Veterans facility.
