Mr. Lawrence served with the Canadian Forces during the Korean War. He is an active member of the Korea Veterans Association, Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association and the Royal Canadian Legion. For over 30 years, he has volunteered as a service officer with these organizations, assisting countless Veterans with their applications for disability pensions and benefits from Veterans Affairs Canada. With his sense of compassion and empathy, he is able to interact effectively with younger Veterans and help them receive the support they need. Mr. Lawrence also volunteers to drive Veterans to their medical appointments. As a member of the Sick and Visiting Committee at Ste. Anne's Hospital for over 20 years, Mr. Lawrence has organized bingos and ensured that Veterans received gifts during the holidays. For over 15 years, he has visited schools and service clubs to raise awareness of Canada's military history and the importance of remembrance.
