Douglas McAdam

Mr. McAdam is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. He has been an active member of the Black Watch Association since 1974 and has been their treasurer ever since. Mr. McAdam also organizes their reunions, which take place every two years. As well, he is responsible for the production and mailing of the Black Watch Association’s quarterly newsletter to more than 400 members. Under Mr. McAdam’s supervision and leadership, the Black Watch Association raises funds to support several programs offered to the Veterans of Ste. Anne’s Hospital, such as the pet and music therapy sessions. Mr. McAdam regularly makes the two-hour return trip from his home to Ste. Anne’s Hospital to visit Veterans. He plans several Bingo evenings and organizes and attends the annual Christmas concert. In addition to the fundraising and volunteer efforts at Ste. Anne’s Hospital, Mr. McAdam attends the funerals of all local Veterans and offers guidance and support to their next of kin. He generously acts as driver to bring Veterans to and from ceremonies and events they would not otherwise be able to attend. As treasurer of Legion Branch 202, Mr. McAdams was responsible for the purchase of two bricks in Juno Beach to commemorate the Second World War soldiers killed in action and afterwards.
