Douglas "Duke" Warren retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1973 after a career that spanned more than 33 years, including action as a fighter pilot in both the Second World War and the Korean War. Mr. Warren has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion since his retirement serving as the Padre of the Comox Branch for 24 years. During those 24 years, Mr. Warren also served as Padre of the Korean War Veterans Association and the Royal Canadian Air Force Association. He is noted for his clear sense of mission and spiritual maturity combined with his natural friendliness. As a committed Veteran, Mr. Warren is very involved with annual Remembrance Day activities, including speaking to local students. On November 11th he leads the crowd gathered at the Comox War Memorial in prayer as they pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the cause of peace. Mr. Warren has also been a delegate on three Veterans Affairs Canada pilgrimages, marking the 40th, 50th and 60th anniversaries of the Dieppe Raid.
