Eldon McCallum

Mr. McCallum is a Second World War Veteran who fought on D-Day. He became a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in 1945 and has held numerous positions on the executive, including president. Mr. McCallum has been involved with the branch's poppy campaign and Book of Remembrance. For his outstanding service to the Legion, Mr. McCallum was awarded life membership and the Meritorious Service Award. Mr. McCallum is a member of the Army, Navy, & Air Force Veterans in Canada and received the Canadian Friendship Award from the national commander of the American Legion in 2004. He has worked tirelessly to assist in the formation of Unit #95 in 1995, has served on the executive, including a term as chairman of the Honours and Awards Committee.

Mr. McCallum speaks to students during Veterans' Week and throughout the year about the importance of remembering our military history. He has been active in the community, helping to establish schooling and housing for the handicapped and mentally challenged, working with youth through Scouts and hockey, and volunteering for the Saint John Ambulance Brigade. For his outstanding efforts, Mr. McCallum has been awarded the Order of Saint John.
