Elizabeth Spry

Mrs. Spry is the widow of a Canadian Merchant Navy Veteran - one of the founders of the Canadian Merchant Navy Veterans Association. She and her husband hosted several meetings and reunions at their home in Coburg, Ontario. She acted as the unofficial secretary for the fledgling Association and has since become the National Secretary continuing to serve in that capacity. In addition to her secretarial duties, Mrs. Spry has researched and produced the "Role of Honour Memorial Record" for deceased members and continues to maintain a membership list of more than 2000 allied wartime merchant seamen, including the names of the ships on which they served. Mrs. Spry volunteers with the Broadmead Care Foundation which raises funds in support of the Veterans and seniors at the Lodge at Broadmead and the Veterans Health Centre. She is a recipient of the Canada 125 Medal as well as the Queen's Jubilee Medal. Mrs. Spry is an excellent role model for those who wish to honour and remember Canada's Veterans.
