Mr. Hughes served in the Primary Reserve for over 27 years and was Commanding Officer of three, large Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps. Mr. Hughes’ involvement with the annual poppy campaign was instrumental in successfully raising more than $95,000. He has been a member and devoted volunteer of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 45 years. Mr. Hughes has served in numerous executive capacities, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd vice president, and is completing his 4th term as Branch President. He has also acted in the role of chairman for various committees, including Poppy Trust Fund, Honours and Awards, Constitution and Bylaws and Leadership. He served as bar officer and has worked tirelessly on commemorative-related activities such as the Remembrance Day parade and service. Mr. Hughes has and continues to serve Veterans, their families and the community, unselfishly and unconditionally.
