Ms. Lizotte has been an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) for more than 25 years. During this time, she has devoted thousands of hours assisting Veterans and their dependents by arranging for food hampers to be delivered to Veterans, arranging for transportation to and from medical appointments and assisting the procurement of wheelchairs and other mobility devices for those in need. Ms. Lizotte visited Veterans in their homes and in long-term care facilities, providing assistance where needed. She is involved in assisting Veterans who were living on the streets of Calgary. Each Veteran now has his own, fully-furnished one bedroom apartment and Ms. Lizotte continues to work with these Veterans to ensure they are being adequately cared for. Ms. Lizotte does all of this while simultaneously caring for her granddaughter, who recently went into facility care, and looking after the needs of her son who is also in facility care.
