Mr. Taillefer is a Canadian Forces Veteran who served in Germany as well as on a peacekeeping mission in the Middle East. Since retiring, he has been very active in the Veteran community. Mr. Taillefer is the founding member of the Central Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping (CAVUNP) and continues to serve on the Executive. Since 2004, Mr. Taillefer has been the primary organizer and emcee for CAVUNP’s annual Peacekeepers’ Day ceremony, which includes a parade of 350 personnel, two bands and a large colour party. He also organizes the association’s annual anniversary luncheon and Christmas dinner/dance. Mr. Taillefer personally paid for a comrade’s medals at a local pawn shop when his comrade fell on hard times. He represented his fellow Veterans in 2010 as an Olympic torchbearer. Mr. Taillefer also raises funds to sponsor one-day visits to Disney World for terminally ill children.
