Fred Alteen

Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador

Mr. Alteen is a Veteran of the Second World War having served in the RCAF overseas. He has been an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion since 1948 and has held various executive positions within Branch 13 in Corner Brook, including President. Throughout his Legion membership he has been actively involved with the Sick and Visiting Committee and has dedicated much effort to fundraising and lobbying for the welfare of Veterans in Western Newfoundland. His lobbying and dedication were the driving force behind the construction and opening of a Veterans Affairs Canada Ward at the O'Connell Center in Corner Brook. Mr. Alteen has been Chair of the Action Committee for the Ward since its inception over 15 years ago. This Committee ensures that Veterans who reside on the Ward receive the best care, respect and attention they rightfully deserve. Mr. Alteen continues to remain active within his local Legion branch and contributes unselfishly to the well-being of his fellow Veterans.
