Mr. McAleer is a retired member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. As a member of the Royal Canadian Legion since 2007, he has been actively involved with the Veterans Service Committee at his own request. His familiarity with the benefits and services offered by Veterans Affairs Canada has been an asset in his assistance to Veterans. Mr. McAleer has actively reached out to all Veterans in his branch to ask if they might require support in applying for a pension. In the past three years, he has submitted 120 pension requests on behalf of Veterans. Mr. McAleer has volunteered for and received training as a Veterans Affairs Canada long term care surveyor, allowing him to continue to contribute to the care of Veterans in health care facilities. For his outstanding efforts on behalf of Veterans, Mr. McAleer has been awarded certificates of merit by his local branch and by the Ontario Provincial Command of the Royal Canadian Legion.
