George Boatman

Mr. Boatman has been instrumental in organizing large-scale commemorative ceremonies in British Columbia's Lower Mainland Region. He initiated a "Canada Remembered" event in 1995, which was a series of public programs aimed at telling Canada's military history. The event has become more popular with each passing year. The number of Veterans organizations and associations participating in the program has increased as well, drawing upon all branches of the services. In 2004, Mr. Boatman produced a week-long military history show, "From Far and Wide – On Guard for Thee." It was attended by 3,000 youth and 2,000 members of the general public. Mr. Boatman continues to be active by arranging displays of antique military vehicles, military band performances at Veterans hospitals and helping with displays at local museums Mr. Boatman has displayed the highest standards of volunteerism in his commitment to the commemoration of Canada's Veterans. Though he has never served in the military, Mr. Boatman has a deep appreciation of the commitment and sacrifice that military service requires.
