George Bourner

Mr. Bourner is a Veteran of the Korean War. A member of the Korean War Veterans Association, he was responsible for 65 units across Canada between 1988 and 1991 when he served as Quartermaster. Mr. Bourner has been an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 606 for 39 years. He has held various positions on the Executive, different committees and the Poppy Campaign. He visits and phones Veterans in nursing homes and within the community to determine whether or not their needs are being met. Mr. Bourner was a member of the Tri District Hospital Fund Board and received a District Medal for his work with Veterans at Sunnybrook Hospital. He is also a member of the South Pickering Seniors Club and has assisted many local citizens in acquiring mobility aids for everyday living. Mr. Bourner has received the Canada 125 Medal and is a recipient of the Legion=s most prestigious award for service, the Meritorious Service Medal.
