Mr. George Nash is a Veteran of the Korean War and served 24 years in the armed forces from 1951 to 1975. Since his retirement as a commercial fisherman in 1993, Mr. Nash has been an active member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 3. For the past ten years, he has worked on the Poppy Campaign, selling poppies and visiting schools. Mr. Nash has also generously offered the use of his vehicle to help deliver wreaths to individuals and businesses. While on a visit to the Legion in Neil’s Harbour on Cape Breton Island in 1999, he discovered that the members did not have the expertise to organize the parade and ceremonies for Remembrance Day. As a Service Officer with the Legion, Mr. Nash has dedicated many hours visiting hospitalized Veterans, offering them care and comfort.
