Mr. Morrison is a retired Canadian Forces member who served his country for 36 years both in Canada and abroad. Since his retirement in 1991, he has been actively involved in preserving the history of the Canadian Air Force. He was actively involved for six years with the Alberta Air Cadet gliding and flying program serving as a glider pilot instructor. During his tenure with the Aero Space Museum of Calgary, Mr. Morrison assisted with the refurbishing of a Canadian Sabre jet fighter and other projects aimed at preserving and displaying military artefacts. His leadership skills were readily recognized and Mr. Morrison was appointed as a director of the museum, a position he held for seven years. In 2000, Mr. Morrison recognized the need for an event to honour Second World War Air Force Veterans and others who served in the Air Force. He organized an annual banquet which is attended by approximately 170 Veterans of all ranks and ages. In 2002, a number of retired Air Force officers identified the need for a museum in Calgary to capture the history of the Canadian Air Force. The Air Force Museum Society of Alberta was established and Mr. Morrison was elected as its chairman. During the next five years, his committee raised $850,000 toward the costs associated with the museum, which opened in 2009. In the first four months of operation, approximately 3,000 people from Canada and abroad signed the guest book and toured the facility. Mr. Morrison also served on the board of The Friends of the Colonel Belcher Veterans Hospital Society for eight years.
