Mr. Grant is a Second World War Veteran who served as a tank gunner in the Canadian Grenadier Guards. He has been an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 54 years, serving as a two-term President of Branch 297 in Cornwall. He has also been the Project Coordinator of the Cornwall Legion Ball Park Committee and Legion Community Service Coordinator. Mr. Grant's association with local organizations includes serving as Director on the boards of Worldfest, the General Hospital, the Howard Smith Credit Union, the MS Society, the Paralympics and the Non-Profit Housing Authority. He has been Director and President of the United Way, the Kiwanis Club of Cornwall and the Cornwall and District Service Council. Mr. Grant is the Director of the Santa Claus Parade committee and the Children's Christmas Fund. He is also a member of a Bingo Committee which raises funds annually for three Cadet Corps in Cornwall. For his achievements, Mr. Grant has received numerous awards, including being recognized in 2002 as Cornwall's Citizen of the Year.
