Harry Glowachuk

Mr. Glowachuk is a Veteran of the Second World War. He served in Italy with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He has been a member of Branch 229 of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) in Whalley for 59 years, and he was made a life member in 2005. Mr. Glowachuk has participated in the Poppy Campaign since 1986 and he regularly works 8-hour shifts at the local shopping mall throughout the campaign. He is a member of the Branch’s Honour Guard whose aim is to ensure that Veterans and legionnaires receive a dignified and honourable military funeral. Mr. Glowachuk was involved in the renaming of a local street adjacent to the RCL Branch and the Whalley War Memorial to “Veterans Way.”
