Herman Van Rossum

Mr. Van Rossum is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and serves as a flag bearer in the Colour Party in various parades. The Sergeant-at-Arms and Colour Sergeant for the Canadian Airborne Association, he also assists with its fundraising campaigns and organizes the summer barbeque events. Mr. Van Rossum is a member of the Canadian Association of Veterans in the United Nations Peacekeeping (CAVUNP). He routinely sets up flags, tables, chairs and coffee for the monthly meetings and remains behind to help clean up. He is also involved with its fundraising initiatives. At the yearly Veterans’ Christmas Dinner and Dance, he performs numerous tasks such as setting up, picking out decorations and centerpieces, collecting entrance tickets and selling raffle tickets. Mr. Van Rossum continues to actively volunteer with Veterans and members of his community. He is currently involved with fundraising for CAVUNP, to assist with the expansion of Peacekeepers’ Park in Angus, Ontario. He helps organize and plan the annual Peacekeepers’ Parade in Angus, which is the second largest parade next to the Remembrance Day parade in Barrie, Ontario. As a member of the Airborne Association and the Ontario Provincial Police Chorus, Mr. Van Rossum also works tirelessly raising funds for the Salvation Army.
