The Honourable Jack Marshall CM, CD

A Veteran of the Second World War and a Senator of Canada from 1978 to 1994, Senator Marshall has been deeply engaged with Veterans issues for many years. He established and chaired the Senate Sub-Committee on Veterans Affairs and, in that capacity, worked tirelessly to suggest and implement reforms, especially in the area of disability pensions. The report "Keeping Faith: into the Future" issued under his leadership, contained numerous recommendations implemented by the Government of Canada over the past eight years. Senator Marshall has made significant contributions to history and heritage through the Battle of Normandy Foundation. His exceptional contributions to The Royal Canadian Legion span a period of more than 50 years, including a term as Honorary Grand President. His personal interventions on behalf of Veterans and their cause have been invaluable, leading to his appointment to the Order of Canada in 1995.
