Mr. Davidson was a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. He joined the Royal Canadian Legion in 2005 and served on several executive committees, as Poppy Fund chairman, public relations officer and two terms as Branch president. Mr. Davidson was Branch service officer from 2009 to 2011, ensuring Veterans and their dependents were well informed and receiving benefits to which they were entitled. In spite of his declining health, Mr. Davidson continued to carry out these duties with courage and enthusiasm, recruiting and training a helper to take over the role of service officer.
