Jack Aldred

Toronto, Ontario

Mr. Aldred is a Second World War Veteran who served in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve. Since retiring from the Post Office, where he is one of "Santa's Helpers," personalizing replies to children=s letters to Santa, he has worked as a crossing guard for elementary school students. In the past, he has spoken at the Don Mills United and Westminster Presbyterian churches about the Battle of the Atlantic and at Westwood Middle School for Remembrance Day. Mr. Aldred is active in The Royal Canadian Legion Todmorden Branch 10. He is a frequent flag bearer in parades and even learned to play drums in order to join the Scarborough Red Hackles Pipe and Drum Band. He raises money every year for the Legion's walkathon. Mr. Aldred continues to be a dedicated ambassador for Veterans.
