Jack Ambler

Regina, Saskatchewan

A Second World War Veteran, Mr. Ambler joined the Royal Canadian Air Force Reserve (RCAFR) in 1960 and is presently Provincial Chairman of the RCAF Benevolent Fund. Since joining the Air Force Association of Canada (AFAC) in 1951, Mr. Ambler has served in many positions locally and nationally. He was instrumental in having the AFAC place historical markers on all locations of British Commonwealth Air Training Plan airfields in Saskatchewan. Mr. Ambler spearheaded fund-raising initiatives for needy Air Force Veterans, gave his support to Air Cadets, and helped in providing funds for the Veteran's Wing at Wascana Hospital. In addition to channelling annual grants to the RCAF Benevolent Fund, Mr. Ambler has given his full support to numerous Veteran causes. In addition, he is also a member of the Saskatchewan Second World War Memorial Committee, and as volunteer bookkeeper and statistician, assisted in the compilation of a list of approximately 5,000 Saskatchewan Veterans who died serving their country since the beginning of the Second World War. Mr. Ambler participates in the annual Remembrance Day ceremonies, laying a wreath on behalf of his organization. He is also a dedicated volunteer for a local community foundation and, as a Canadian Executive Services Organization volunteer advisor, he has supported several projects involving First Nations in Saskatchewan.
