Jack Myers

Mr. Myers is a Second World War Veteran. He is a founding member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #429 and has worked tirelessly throughout the 65 years of his membership to improve the lives of his fellow Veterans. Mr. Myers has been active in all levels of the Legion in Ontario—branch, zone and provincial command. He remains active in the Branch, conducting opening ceremonies for all meetings, acting as timekeeper for the Branch’s public speaking contest and working at the monthly fish fry. He acts as the local liaison for the Provincial Legion Charitable Foundation, which provides funds to community organizations. Mr. Myers has been Branch Service Officer for many years, helping Veterans when their health fails or when their needs increase. He spends many hours visiting Veterans in the hospital, health care facilities and in their homes. A Veterans Memorial Board was installed at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre in 2009. This was orchestrated by Mr. Myers, who worked with local authorities to ensure the work was properly completed. The board includes the names of all community members who lost their lives in the service of their country.
