Mr. James Kennedy has been an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion for more than 20 years. He has been a member of the St. John’s Branch 1 since 1984; he has held the position of Service Officer and he has served as President for five terms. Too numerous to list, Mr. Kennedy has served on at least 12 Legion Committees, both Provincial and Dominion Commands, and he still serves on the Veterans Long Term Care Committee. As a member of his local branch, Mr. Kennedy has served on committees ranging from lotteries, Children’s Christmas party, Sport Committee, Sick and Visiting Committee, Scholarships and Bursaries, Entertainment Committee, Poppy Campaign and Honour Guard, among others. Apart from the Legion, Mr. Kennedy has been involved with the Boy Scouts and the Red Cross Association of Burin Peninsula. The son of a Second World War Veteran, Mr. Kennedy recognizes the importance of preserving the memories of this noble generation of Canadians.
