James Knox

Mr. Knox is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion (Branch # 426) for 40 years and has served on the Executive as well as on many committees during that time. He has also been a Legion spokesperson and judge for annual poster contests. He speaks to school children during Veterans' Week. Mr. Knox is the recipient of numerous awards for his outstanding volunteer work, including Citizen of the Year (Newmarket); Canada 125 Medal; the Bicentennial Medal; and he was recognized by the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled People with the King Clancy award for Humanitarianism. For more than 30 years, Mr. Knox has volunteered his time to assist vulnerable citizens and seniors, by driving them to appointments, visiting shut-ins, and fundraising for local hospitals and nursing homes. He currently operates a registered charity, The Association for Differently Abled People Together (ADAPT).
