James Patrick MacMillan-Murphy

Mr. MacMillan-Murphy is a retired peacekeeping Veteran who is very involved with the Veteran community. He is an active member of numerous Veterans’ organizations, including: founder and first president, Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association (CPVA); past chairman, Air Cadet League of Canada; Honorary Life Member, Royal Canadian Naval Association; founder and editor of The Blue Beret newsletter; 2nd Vice President of the Royal Canadian Legion (RCL); and Secretary of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Association. Mr. MacMillan-Murphy was also the driving force behind the establishment of the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal. In 1991, when he founded the CPVA, it began as a provincial association, and soon expanded to the national level. As the National President, Mr. MacMillan-Murphy routinely issues press releases pertaining to peacekeeping and has appeared on radio and television stating his personal views. He has published two e-books available online entitled Esquimalt Remembers, a brief history of the naval service in Esquimalt, and Brave Chests, a history of Canadian Victoria Cross recipients.
