James Raymond Ingram

Mr. James Raymond Ingram is a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces and a former police officer. He is a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and has held the position of 1st and 2nd vice president, and of president over the last three years. During this period, he was also the Branch’s Service Officer, a position he has held for approximately 10 years and continues in today. As Service Officer, Mr. Ingram has assisted more than 50 Veterans and their families with their application forms, ensuring they receive the benefits to which they are entitled. He also initiated an annual Veterans’ Luncheon at the Branch, catered by the Ladies Auxiliary. This is a well-attended event that is enjoyed by both Veterans and their families. During the lead up to Veterans’ Week and Remembrance Day, Mr. Ingram has visited schools; scout and girl-guide groups; and the adult education centre for new Canadians to explain the history and sacrifices of Canadian Veterans. He has also emceed the service at the local cenotaph for the past five years and liaised with the local choir, school board, and youth groups regarding the program. Leading up to Remembrance Day, Mr. Ingram also reaches out to health care facilities to provide on-site services for Veterans who are unable to attend the ceremony at the local cenotaph.
