Mr. Sidel is a retired Royal Canadian Air Force Veteran. Extremely active on behalf of our Veterans, past and present, he takes their voices to the many organizations he sits on. Mr. Sidel is one of the co-founders of the Master Corporal Mark Isfeld Memorial Chapter of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping (CAVUNP) and has served in many capacities at the chapter. Mr. Sidel is also a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans in Canada where he served for many years as Finance Director and served on the Colour Party. Ensuring Veterans are properly recognized in the Victoria area, he assisted with the design and creation of a new memorial in the Oak Bay area. For four years, Mr. Sidel was responsible for the annual Remembrance Day display in the British Columbia Museum, which encouraged local youth to exhibit their artwork depicting their idea of what remembrance meant to them. Mr. Sidel's involvement in numerous volunteer activities in the Victoria area, earned him the title of Humanitarian of the Year in 2003.
