Mrs. Janet Bennett retired at the rank of Sergeant after a 32-year career with the Canadian Forces, where she served in Egypt, West Germany, Northwest Territories and the Middle East. In 2003, Mrs. Bennett became a member of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping, North Saskatchewan Chapter. In 2005, she became the Chapter's recording secretary and continues to work tirelessly assisting Canada's military Veterans in matters of concern to them. Mrs. Bennett ensures the events for the August 9 Peacekeeper's Day run smoothly. She participates in fundraising drives and volunteers her time at display booths at events such as the Canada Remembers Air Show in Saskatoon. Mrs. Bennett has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion since 2004, and has served on their executive board as 3rd Vice President since 2008. She is a member of Maple Leaf Unit #287 which is unique as it is the only all women's unit of the Army, Navy and Air Force Association still in existence in Canada. Mrs. Bennett is also a member of the Gulf War Veterans Association and is the recipient of the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal.
