Jean-Claude Charron

Barrie, Ontario

A Canadian Armed Forces Veteran, Mr. Charron has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for more than 45 years. He has served as Sergeant-at-Arms for 15 years with Branch 147 in Barrie, Ontario and as Sergeant-at-Arms for the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps (RCASC) Ontario Association for the past 12 years. In 2011, Mr. Charron chaired an RCASC reunion committee that brought more than 100 former members together for a three-day reunion. He is currently a member of the Veterans Club of Barrie, having served as president. Mr. Charron is also a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force 441 Huronia Wing and was its sergeant-at-arms for five years. Mr. Charron has led the Legion’s Colour Party on numerous occasions. He participates in annual commemorative ceremonies in the Barrie area, including: the Battle of Britain, Battle of the Atlantic, Vimy Ridge Day, Freedom of the City, Peacekeepers’ Parade, D-Day and Remembrance Day. During Veterans’ Week, Mr. Charron takes the message of remembrance to eight local retirement homes and to two local, French-language public schools.
