Jean Fournier

Mr. Jean Fournier is the President of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council, Quebec Region, a position he has occupied since 2003. In his role as president, Mr. Fournier has demonstrated a special devotion to commemorating the sacrifices and achievements of Canada=s Veterans. When HMCS Fredericton recently stopped in Trois Rivières, for instance, Mr. Fournier organized a ceremony and a reception for Veterans and legionnaires, which were also attended by the ship=s captain. Other events in which he has been significantly involved through his role as president include the Canadian Naval Centennial and annual ceremonies commemorating the Battle of the Atlantic. Mr. Fournier has become a spokesperson for Canadian Forces Veterans, assisting members of the 12e Régiment Blindé du Canada and of HMCS Radisson when they returned home from Afghanistan and Bosnia. Furthermore, Mr. Fournier was involved in working with the Government of Quebec to change legislation in order to protect those who served as reservists in the Canadian Forces from losing benefits and services upon their return to civilian life. In 2009, at the invitation of the Canadian Forces in Quebec, Mr. Fournier visited soldiers in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Once there, he met a number of reservists and assured them that their transition to civilian life would be a smooth one.
