Mr. Gaudet is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. He helped establish the Dieppe Military Veterans’ Association in 1979 and has been the Master of Ceremonies for the annual Dieppe Raid ceremony since. In 1981, Mr. Gaudet assisted in the creation of a cenotaph in Dieppe, New Brunswick, making arrangements with French journalist, Alain Gilette, to have pebbles from the beaches of Dieppe, France and surrounding villages sent to Canada for incorporation into the memorial. Since 2000, Mr. Gaudet has served as Master of Ceremonies for Battle of Britain and Remembrance Day ceremonies. He is currently a member of the Dieppe City Council and Liaison Councillor between local Veterans and the city. Through his work on the Heritage and Toponymy Committee, Mr. Gaudet has had streets named for Veterans and, in 2012, he arranged for Alain Gilette to visit Dieppe, New Brunswick, in honour of a street named for him.
